What We Do for the Community

The Kettle Moraine Lodge has always been focused on community involvement.  We believe that this is a way to positively impact the relationship between law enforcement and the community it serves.

Members of Lodge 10 go above and beyond helping members of their communities in the performance of their job by volunteering many hours of their personal free time to community service projects.

Remembering the Fallen

The Kettle Moraine Lodge sponsors an annual wreath-laying ceremony at the grave sites of the three law enforcement officers from Washington County that were killed in the line of duty.  During Police Week every year, members of our lodge visit the three graves and lay a wreath and pause to remember the sacrifice of these three heroes.

Marshal Leonard Scherger, City of Hartford Police EOW: May 21st 1904

Officer Robert D.  Backes, Village of Germantown EOW: March 2nd 1981

Deputy John M. Schmitt, Washington County Sheriff's Office EOW: September 7th 1998

Additionally, our lodge sponsored display boards for the annual Law Enforcement Memorial held at the county fairgrounds during Police Week.

Where Our Money Goes

  •  Beginning in 2016, the Kettle Moraine Lodge took over the operations of the Shop with a Cop program here in Washington County.  This is a tremendous undertaking involving roughly 50 area children and coordinating over 100 volunteers. The annual event is held in early December.

  • We offer bereavement and financial support to families of officers killed on or off-duty, often regardless of whether or not they belonged to our organization.

  • We provide monetary support for officers and their families during tragic events, evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

  • We donate both money and volunteer hours to various charities each year such as: youth little league teams, food pantries, Boys and Girls Club, Special Olympics, Elevate Incorporated, the Humane Society, Fischer House, Friends Inc.,  Hartford Police Explorers, Germantown Police Explorers, West Bend Police Explorers, Every 15 Minute Program, and many more.

  • We offer an annual $1000 scholarship open to young people seeking a career in law enforcement whether they are enrolled in a 2-year technical school or a 4-year college.
